Biography

Tibari Kantour was born in 1954 in Casablanca, he lives and works in Ben Maachou, Morocco. Kantour graduated from the Fine Arts school in Casablanca, and continued his education at the Fine Arts Royal Academy in Brussels and in Lieges before joining an engraving school. He got the possibility to stay at the Cite international des arts in Paris from 1995 until 1998. His work is like an enchanting invitation to travel. The artist distills fiery red on the background of his flamboyant landscapes and troubled strokes. He likes to use subtle shades.His paintings are a way to getaway, travel beyond time and space but remain at the heart of imagination. His infinite skies and mysterious symbols sound out the invisible. His paintings are intensely lyrical. In fact he has signed several artist books combining handwritten poems and images. He has made a name for himself through his exhibitions abroad, in Tokyo, Casablanca, Paris and Marrakesh to name a few. Tibari Kantour also took part in collective exhibitions in UK, USA, Germany, Japan…His works are also part of public collections like the World Bank of Washington, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Morocco, General bank in Casablanca.
