Biography

DJ Joe hails from Meru where he was born on 9th December in 1987. His interest in music and particularly spinning the decks took root at the young age of thirteen and began listening to a variety of disc jockeys who helped him to craft his own sound over the years. Joseph Mwenda began his career in 2008 at a disc jockey competition where he took first runners up position. The stiff competition that revealed the best and top talents in the country led to his absorption into Capital FM, where he was hooked up with several gigs. One was the morning show titled The Lift Off which recently got him into trouble. He is currently on a two-week suspension where he will be subjected to sensitization training by women rights professionals and more trainers on conduct while on air. Beyond radio, DJ Joe runs his own named-after company that offers a broad scope of entertainment options. The company offers DJ services for corporate events, family celebrations, gigs among more with a dedication to high quality work. They also offer social media brand marketing and management having worked with big firms such as Huawei, Safaricom, Shell, KCB and Coca Cola. Moreover, the company offers event sound engineering and top notch photography services. He also sells merchandise including his signature baseball caps, t-shirts and more. His career as an entertainer has earned him recognition and awards from various platforms some being top media DJ, DJ of the year award and African global DJ award. His roles at Capital FM, Multichoice Group, Mediamax Network Limited and Radio Africa Group continue to build his professional profile. Dj Joe is married to beautiful lady called Ephy Preston though details on his family remain unavailable as at the time of this article’s publication. He is a leading DJ in the Kenyan entertainment scene charging an average of Kshs 150,000 for his mega shows and an average of Kshs 60,000 for smaller gigs.
