Biography

Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen is a man of many talents. Born in South Africa, he has made a name for himself as a prestigious chef, avid photographer and artist, winemaker, compelling writer and successful restaurateur. He set out to share South African cuisine with the world when he opened Restaurant JAN in Nice, France, in 2013. As of 2023, in its 10th year of existence, Restaurant JAN has been awarded a Michelin star eight times in a row.
