Fatoumata Diabaté

Biography

She embarked on her photographic journey at the Promo-Femmes Audiovisual Training Center, which paved the way for her enrolment at the Photography Training Center in Bamako (CFP) from 2002 to 2004. This period saw her assume the role of a technical assistant in the darkroom, a position she held until 2009. Since that pivotal moment, her talent has garnered international recognition, leading to her active participation in both collective and solo exhibitions. Specializing in portraiture and social photography, her lens is particularly drawn towards capturing the essence of women and the emerging generations. At present, her brainchild, the ‘Street Photo Studio,’ stands as a testament to her creativity. Erected in lively locales, adorned with authentic backdrops and assorted props, it provides an opportunity for individuals from all walks of life to step into the nostalgic ambiance of the 1950s and 60s. Here, they leave with cherished monochrome portraits, a timeless memento of their experience.
