Biography

1981, Born Lagos, Nigeria. 2007, Studied Photojournalism at the Nigerian institute of Journalism in Lagos, Nigeria. 2008, One of 12 selected photojournalists who participated in the Noor/Nikon Masterclass in Documentary photography Lagos. 2009–2010, One of 18 selected photojournalists in Africa selected for the World Press Photo road to twenty ten photography Workshop in Accra Ghana in Accra Ghana 2009 and multimedia workshop in Zambia 2010. Adolphus Opara’s work is induced by encounters with people and their daily effort to exist amidst obstacles that define and situate their individual locality. He uses visual storytelling with the aid of pictures to better understand as well as to show his connection to the issues that confronts him daily.
